Subject: | CMR To Retire ECHO Tokens for Ingest and Search Operations |
What's Happening: | What's Happening: The CMR is retiring ECHO tokens and the associated code base. ECHO tokens are used to submit requests to the CMR. CMR uses the ECHO token in the request to authenticate the client and authorize the requested operation. An ECHO token is passed to CMR via the 'Echo-Token' header. CMR will no longer generate ECHO tokens or use the 'Echo-Token' header. For CMR ingest operations, Launchpad tokens will be required. For CMR search operations, Earthdata Login (EDL) tokens are recommended. Launchpad tokens and EDL tokens are passed to CMR via the 'Authorization' header. Why Is It Happening: To support the ongoing retirement of CMR Legacy Services, which uses ECHO tokens. |
Action Needed: | For Ingest:
For Search:
|
Timeline: | To avoid disruption of CMR operations, providers should migrate away from using ECHO tokens no later than March 2023 |
Who Is Affected: | All users and clients that currently use ECHO Tokens and/or the Echo-Token header. |
