About the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR):

There are three separate campuses. Center Green (CG), Foothills Lab (FL) and Mesa Lab (ML). Our meetings will be at the iconic Mesa Lab in the Damon Room. NCAR is the government lab, funded by the NSF. The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) is the nonprofit that is contracted to run and staff NCAR. Most people at NCAR are employed by UCAR. Now you know. The Mesa Lab is nestled in the hills on the SW corner of town. Foothills Lab and Center Green are close to each other on the NE corner of town.

Getting to and from the meeting

There is a shuttle that runs up to Mesa Lab, however it is not large and there wouldn’t be room for everybody in it. You can catch it right across the street from the EMBASSY SUITES HOTEL 2601 Canyon Boulevard, Boulder. It is a van labeled “UCAR shuttle”. There is a low white wall just south of the Burger King at 28^th & Canyon. That’s where the shuttle will pick you up and drop you off. The two pickup times that will get you up to the Mesa in time for the meeting are at 7:43 and 8:13 (arriving at 8:02 and 8:32 respectively). Confirm with the driver that s/he is going to the ML or you might end up at FL by mistake since this is the shuttle stop for both directions.

Courtesy room rates were available at the Embassy Suites and Hilton Garden Inn at the government rate of $131 (exclusive of applicable state and local taxes). The hotels are right next to each other in Boulder. The cut off date for the courtesy rate was 16 March 2019.

Cancellation policy: Rooms must be cancelled with a cancellation number obtained by 6pm two days prior to arrival to avoid a cancellation fee (one night's room rate + tax). If the reservation is not cancelled and the guest fails to arrive as scheduled, a no-show fee will be applied (one night's room rate + tax).

Early departure fee: changes in a guest's date of departure AFTER check-in may result in an Early Departure fee of $75.00 and/or the room rate is subject to change as discounts may have been offered because of the longer stay pattern originally proposed.

Parking: There is off road parking. The hotel offers both valet and self-parking. Current prices for the group: daily charges are: valet: $23.00, self: $12.00
