To submit a keyword, the submitter should:
Review the controlled keyword requirements/guidelines
Verify that the keyword does NOT already exist
Include a definition of the proposed keyword
Once the above is complete, the submitter should send the request to support@earthdata.nasa.gov
The keywords can be accessed via:
GCMD Keyword Directory: http://gcmdservices.gsfc.nasa.gov/static/kms/
Dynamic RESTful Service http://gcmdservices.gsfc.nasa.gov/kms/capabilities
Once a keyword version is released, users can access the KMS API (http://gcmdservices.gsfc.nasa.gov/kms/capabilities?format=html) to retrieve the most recent version of the keywords. For keyword modifications, the UUID of the keyword will not change. For keyword additions, a new UUID will be generated.
Users can also apply the keyword changes via the docBUILDER and MMT metadata authoring tools that use the new versions of the keywords in the keyword pick-list.
- GCMD can also provide a mapping between the old version of the keywords and the new versions of the keywords.
- At the request of a provider, GCMD can update the keywords (modifications only) in the records using a bulk change adapter.
The keywords should be cited as:
