Subject: | CMR To Retire ECHO Tokens for Ingest and Search Operations |
What's Happening: | To facilitate the planned retirement of CMR's Legacy Services codebase, the CMR is phasing out its support of ECHO tokens for all operations. For CMR ingest operations, Launchpad tokens will be required. For CMR search operations, Currently, ECHO tokens submitted by users and clients in requests to CMR are used to authenticate the client and authorize the requested operation. Once ECHO tokens are retired, users and clients will be required to authenticate using Launchpad or Earthdata Login (EDL) tokens are recommended. |

Timeline: | To avoid disruption of CMR operations, providers should migrate away from using ECHO tokens no later than March 2023. |
Who Is Affected: | All users and clients that currently use ECHO Tokens and/or the Echo-Token header. |
