This page shows the action since the 09/28/2022 UWG meeting
Action items
The UWG made recommendations regarding the data, software, and services provided by OB.DAAC, and the UWG membership. Specific recommendations from the meeting include:
Data (Ocean color and SeaBASS in situ)
Consider possibility of producing/distributing Landsat/Sentinel-2 products over coastal ocean. (this is complicated, need efforts to seek the possibilities)
Discussion about reaching and educating new audiences about availability and accessibility of data, including where to access data and how to use it. (Will be the next steps)
Website
Make a beta version of the proposed website changes available for users to test drive and offer comments/suggestionsÂ
Update PACE simulated data page to link L2/L3 data
Documentation on PACE simulated data to inform new users on how to use and what you can do with the data.
Make data browse tools more intuitive and enhance the visualization capabilities. (Working on it)
Add case studies in a tutorial / "new to ocean color" section (Will be the next steps)
Use case studies to teach people how to use all tools including how to process data.
Add verbiage to explain why we have non-NASA data sets (MERIS, OLCI, VIIRS, GOCI, etc) - how offering these data benefits the community
Should have a webpage that talks about data distribution especially for the data holding by multiple DAACS, such as SST by PODAAC, PACE atmosphere
SeaDAS
Engage with ARSET (We have them on mail list to keep them posted about new release. They will work on posting a note under their past training about new version of SeaDAS)
Inform them of the changes to any interfaces / website navigation as it may impact training they do - or update videos/walkthroughs. (We are working on tutorials for SeaDAS, and there are upcoming SeaDAS trainings from our team as well)
UWG members
Seek UWG representation from outside core ocean color research community, e.g. applied science; water quality managers (Will be the next steps)
In future UWG terms, recruit members from other science teams (not ocean color) that also use our website and data. (Need suggestions about such teams - ways to find and reach out to them)
In person meeting should coincide with another community meeting to minimize travel burden, e.g.: (Based on the experiences we have this time, it complicated the whole procedure and cause conflicts. We will discuss and plan for the next one during the upcoming meeting)
Carbon Cycle and Ecosystem meeting
OCRT
Investigate how to allow external Teams users access to the chat feature (Looking at it)
