Subject: | CMR and MMT To Disable Ingest Via Earthdata Login (EDL) Bearer Tokens |
What's Happening: | In order to comply with NASA security requirements for ingest, CMR will disable the use of EDL/Bearer tokens and MMT will remove the EDL button and require users to use Launchpad authentication for ingest. |
Action Needed: | CMR Ingest: - If you are using Launchpad tokens for CMR ingest with the 'Authorization' header, no action is needed.
- If you are using EDL/Bearer tokens for CMR ingest, you will need to transition to use Launchpad tokens.
- To use Launchpad tokens, see the Launchpad Authentication User's Guide.
- If you do not use Launchpad tokens, you will need to submit a NAMS request (as stated in the user's guide above).
MMT Ingest: - If you login to MMT using Launchpad, no action is needed.
- If you login to MMT using EDL, you will now need to login using Launchpad.
- If you do not have Launchpad setup for MMT, you will need to complete the steps documented at Launchpad Authentication User's Guide
- Test that you can login to MMT using Launchpad.
|
Timeline: | CMR and MMT Ingest Via EDL/Bearer Tokens Will Be Disabled on December 15, 2023. |
Who Is Affected: | - CMR users who use EDL/Bearer tokens to ingest.
- MMT users who use EDL to login to MMT.
- Recent metrics gathered indicate that all EOSDIS providers have migrated to Launchpad tokens, so impact should be minimal.
