Earthdata Search enables smart handoffs of search criteria and parameters to Giovanni. Giovanni is a NASA tool that displays Earth science data from NASA satellites directly on the Internet, without the difficulties of traditional data acquisition and analysis methods.

There are three ways to enable the smart handoff from Earthdata Search to Giovanni:
- From the 'Collection Granule Results' page.
- From the 'My Project' page.
- From the 'Collection Details' page.
