Element Description
The Granule UR element provides the universal reference id of the granule, which is assigned by the data provider. As a result, the id will vary from granule to granule.
Best Practices
Essentially, the Granule UR should match the granule's long name.
Examples:
Granule Long Name: AIRS2CCF_NRT.006:AIRS.2018.10.18.189.L2.CC_IR.v6.0.31.0.R18291162512.hdf

Granule Long Name: MA_AMSUA_NOAA17_OMF.001:merra.mon_stdv3d_amsua_noaa17_omf.200212_06z.nc

Metadata Validation and QA/QC
All metadata entering the CMR goes through the below process to ensure metadata quality requirements are met. All records undergo CMR validation before entering the system. The process of QA/QC is slightly different for NASA and non-NASA data providers. Non-NASA providers include interagency and international data providers and are referred to as the International Directory Network (IDN).
