If you want to finish your transformation task as quickly as you can (time), it costs a lot.
If you want to handle a large amount of data (space), it also costs a lot.
Finding the sweet spot solution that is reasonably fast yet doesn't use much space is the art of cloud computing. Amazon and other cloud vendors are smart enough to set prices for computing and storage resources that try to maximize profit out of your data orchestration need.
