  1. SO2 map from OMPS/NPP on June 22nd Showing the extension of the Raikoke volcanic plume

  2. Unknown User (fprata)

This short animation based on Himawari-8 12 µm brightness temperatures provides information on the timing of the eruption and its duration.  ~8 discrete pulses can ben seen followed by continuous emission and then it ends.

  3. Unknown User (fprata)

Himawari-8 3.9 µm brigtness temperatures showing a hot-spot followed by a cold cloud emitted by Raikoke.  These data give constraints on the eruption time.

  4. Unknown User (fprata)

Dispersed ash and SO2 over the North Pacific as seen by Himawari-8

  5. According to OMPS Limb Profiler (LP), the plume reached 14km. Attached two plots, OMPS aerosol extinction profiles (x 10000) around Raikoke. Dash line is the tropopause altitude. The figure shows the plume spreading between 11.5 to 14km. The second plot is the location of all profiles used in the first figure. The color scale is for stratospheric total column.
