  1. From Keith V.:

Sea Surface Temperature (Daily SST) is hosted from our EarthObs2 machine (with other services).  Currently running 10.5 – going to be updated soon to 10.6.x.

    EarthObs2 Amazon Configuration - m3.xlarge, 4 core with 15 GB memory

The file geodatabase that contains the mosaic lives on this machine and is registered with the "data store".

The underlying files referenced by the mosaic live in S3.

Our “Aggregator” is our processing and automation machine.  This is where the processing occurs and then the update is pushed to the appropriate server for hosting (i.e. EarthObs2).  Out aggregator handles processing for multiple servers that are hosting data.  Ideally the machine that is hosting the data is not tasked with also processing the data.  For Daily SST our Aggregator is fetching data from the remote location, downloading it as it’s native source format (netcdf) and then converting it to MRF before adding it to the

Here are two tools that we utilize:

MDCS is used for management and synchronization of the mosaic dataset with s3

    https://github.com/Esri/mdcs-py

ALF Deployer (for updating the dataset and more)

    http://www.esriurl.com/LiveFeed

ALF Deployer is triggered - sees the updated mosaic in the file geodatabase and packages everything on the aggregator machine to send to the ArcGIS Server Instance.

The Apps are hosted from a web server and are relatively thin.  They do not require many resources.  We're really leveraging the data in the applications.
