Both Earth science and software reuse are areas of increasing research. Funding large-scale projects can require funding from multiple sources. Compiled are two directories dedicated to sources of research funding.

Funding Opportunities are divided into:

Opportunities within NASA

  • NSPIRES - NSPIRES is the NASA Solicitation and Proposal Integrated Review and Evaluation System. This web-based system supports then entire lifecycle of NASA research solicitation and awards, from the release of solicitation announcements through the peer review and selection process, to awards management and publication of research results.

Opportunities outside NASA

  • Earth Sciences (EAR) Active Funding Opportunities - The National Science Foundation promotes and advances scientific progress in the United States by competitively awarding grants and cooperative agreements for research and education in the sciences, mathematics, and engineering.
  • ESIP Earth Information Exchange - The Federation of Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP) has collected a listing of recent grant postings on their Earth Information Exchange site. The grants come from NASA, NOAA, NSF, and other organizations.
  • FedGrants - A searchable database containing federal funding opportunities from a variety of organizations (including NASA).
  • GSFC IPP Office - The Goddard IPP Office has collected a list of funding opportunities at other federal agencies, trying to match open solicitations to GSFC areas of interest, as a reference for Goddard innovators.
